Spotlight on Provitas® Vitamin K

There’s no denying that vitamins are important. However, with so many different kinds available, it can be hard to know which ones are right for you. That’s where we come in. Black Label Ingredients is a leading distributor of Provitas® vitamins A, D, E, and K powders, oils, and emulsions.

If you aren’t already familiar with Provitas — or their vitamin K2 benefits — today’s blog post has got you covered. Keep reading for a complete overview of Provitas vitamin K2.

Who Is Provitas®?

Simply put, Provitas is a manufacturer of vitamins A, D, E, and K (which are all fat-soluble). Provitas focuses on fat-soluble vitamins — which are stored in the body for later use — because its customers aren’t able to use them in their purest forms for a number of reasons. The vitamin could be too potent, too unstable or just in the wrong form. Essentially, Provitas adds stability to the pure form of the vitamins and converts them to a potency that’s safe for use.

What Does K2 Do?

Think of vitamin K as a mini collection of vitamins that play a similar role in the body. Specifically, that collection consists of vitamin K1, vitamin K2, and vitamin K2’s 10 subtypes (known as MK-4 to MK-13).

While vitamin K1 comes from plant sources, vitamin K2 is more commonly found in animal products and fermented foods. Because of this, vitamin K2 takes longer to be absorbed by the body, giving it plenty of time to disperse its many benefits:

  • Build strong bones. Vitamin K activates a protein called osteocalcin, which binds to calcium to build bones.

  • Supports proper blood clotting. Without ample vitamin K2, you could be at risk of high bleeding or bruising.

  • Promote brain function. It helps to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

  • Decreases the risk of cancer. Notably, this vitamin helps decrease the risk of colon and prostate cancers.

  • Support healthy, glowing skin. Vitamin K2 prevents the calcification of our skin’s elastin. And if you didn’t already know, elastin is the protein that gives our skin the ability to bounce back – smoothing wrinkles and lines.
